Last weekend was a like being inside a dream box,  the very real parameters were obvious and yet not confining. Through the windows I could even see   the physical world and it was solid white. Inside I was  comfortable, warm, and content. As I sat and watched the world disappear in the clean white blanket I disappeared into the vast inner world and beaded. What a delight. We are so lucky to be able to create worlds within worlds.wood frog frozen Do you think that a chipmunk or a squirrel can do the same. I truly  wonder about this wood frog.  It is amazing what he can do! He will stay frozen I mean frozen solid like a frogsicle for the whole winter and then come back to life in the spring and get together with his mate and do it. Do you think he disappears into some alternative universe. The world is truly a magical place.    http://http://video.pbs.org/video/1506734069/ (image from https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=515576488551713

Ok everyone knows I  love  registration day, Just like all the events at the shop it has a party atmosphere. And who doesn’t like a good party particularly at  this time of year!! A little colour, good friends, beads and anticipation of some new adventures all those things are much appreciated in my life.

I know Canadians always talk about the weather, but…..do you believe this WEATHER!!   My son who lives in Whitehorse, texted me and asked if I was considering moving up there, They have been warmer all week, every single day. So SPRING!! registration is sounding like robins and tulips. I can’t promise spring weather but the atmosphere will be warm and inviting. So bundle up and come in and start registration with some laughs, beads and warm smiles from friends.13.Sculptured-vintage-cuff.-we

The beginning of any project  is filled with potential, it is  like sunrise or new art supplies exciting, revitalizing and full of hope. This particular term is bubbling over with potential.  We have some exciting classes with the new shapes of beads, we have some really exciting new leather classes and metal classes to spark your interest in the hidden qualities of metal. So check out the website or come in and have a look at the samples. http://www.beadsofcolour.com

Our guest artist is also pretty amazing. She is worth the trip alone.

If that isn’t enough some of the finds from Tucson are already priced and in the shop. So mark your calendar…bundle up and come and get the spring session off to a warm, colourful, joyous start.19.The-bracelet-Monrena-Lise-2

The best things about learning and classes is that you never know where it is going to take you. We are trained to think  linear but in reality the world is not linear. If we allow ourselves to go with the flow, our thoughts and our creativity can take us anywhere. Yet that anywhere is exactly where we belong.

I find when we put ourselves in a learning environment,  we can land in the stars…. or not.  When you are courageous enough to go somewhere you don’t know, allowing someone else to lead, your world changes. It can do nothing else. If you aim for the goal set for you this can be a predictable linear outcome. You will receive what you expected learn a new technique or understand a new concept. Not a bad days work.  Yet it is this new fertile ground of the unknown that has the tantalizing smells of potential, it  is like magic star-dust playing with your vision and mind. Yet it will only be an exotic, intoxicating high until you nourish it,  explore it  and  allow it to change you.  Than  you are  the master. You are the  god of this new world as you are the creator.  It is the magic and uncertainty of the unknown that creates this  tear in our linear world. It is your courage that promotes you to act &  it is your curiosity that pulls you forward and joy that keeps you there. You have entered the endless powerful exploding world of  your imagination. The more people you give passport to the more your world expands.

This is why I  really teach and  that is why I take classes. This is why I buy books this is why I can’t pass up a new box of crayons. To touch potential  & to have the opportunity to crawl through the tears of our linear thinking and fly.  Yes  I can learn new techniques  but hopefully today I will  find the door into my world. When I do, I will issue as many passports as possible so others can visit.  So stay tuned, take a class and report back. http://blogging101september2014.wordpress.com/

Yesterday assignment in Blogging 101 was read four blogs and leave comments. I don’t really think of myself as part of the blogging community. I just have never looked at blogging from that perspective. So off I went to explore. I have read only a few other bead artist blogs so it was all new.  It is  very easy to get lost out there in the computer land of blogging. I enjoyed myself immensely but I am not really sure where I was or how I got there. Another play day is needed.

Todays assignment was to write a post about one of those blogs. “Out of my box” had   been challenged to write ” 30 random facts about me”. She did a great job and inspired me to write my about my page in the same way.   http://outofmyboxdotcom.wordpress.com/

fact one. I don’t eat apples, I eat apple sauce but not applesdubonnet

fact two. I don’t have a good poker face. Therefore I just don’t lie because I can’t get away with it.

fact three. I once walked out on a dentist because he was so insensitive, with the rubber dam still in my mouth. (I had to go back and get him to take it off, but I did it and got a new dentist)

fact four.  I registered, paid and showed up for class before I was accepted into my university program. They called me into the office but I just kept going . It took me an extra year but I got my degree.

Fact five. I read out loud in airports if I am sitting beside someone talking on their cell phone and making business calls. (At first I would change sits but there was always another business man being important)

Fact six. I hate change and love learning new things.

Fact seven. Libraries and art supply stores are almost as good as chocolate, and hot home-made bread on a bad day.

fact eight The Queen of England and I both drink  Dubonnet she adds gin to hers I just like a hunk of lemon not a slice, not a wedge a hunk. more about Dubonnet http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubonnet

Ok you get the picture this is a lot of fun but as my mother always said “duty calls ” the store awaits and I’ve got to go. I wanted  to go to the metal supermarket this morning before work, not going to happen. Once again, I have enjoyed having my coffee with you.

Part of what I would like to do with this blog is show my readers what stimulates me. I know I mostly keep you up to date but I truly want to take some time to show you how I see the world as well. Here are a few shots from an amazing sculpture I saw in Downtown Calgary when I was out to see Suzie of Suzie Q beads at the beginning of the month. I love the mesh work and the graphic shots it produces. The face from inside the head is mystical. This all happened at sunset and it was such a magical exciting experience. Both Suzie and I laughed and giggled as we took the shots.

Bernadette Rule and me before the interview July 22/12

What fun! I hate preparing or even thinking about going live on Radio or TV (I have done both).  Yet 9 times out of 10, it goes well and sometimes fantastic. Yesterday was one of those times, it was fantastic. It was just so natural. Bernadette has an easy interview style and manages to fill in the gaps or correct any errors you may have made. If she knew, they were errors. You are talking to someone with whom you have a history, who can see your facial expressions and your hand jesters . The audience doesn’t have those same advantages. I noticed how Bernadette would gently fill in the gaps. She is great!  I was going to tell you before hand but it was one of those should have, could have, would have days. So here is the link to the pod cast. http://archive.org/details/artwaves  Please post it everywhere you think people who are interested might see it. She does a great job of supporting artist in the Hamilton area, so lets support her. Thanks Bernadette it was fun!
